Invitation to the Chief Medical Officer of England
6th Invest in ME International ME Conference 2011
On 22nd October 2010 Invest in ME formally invited the interim Chief Medical Officer of England, Dame Sally Davies, to open the 6th Invest in ME International ME/CFS Conference 2011 in Westminster, London.
Invest in ME have invited the presiding CMO to attend or present at our conferences in all of our recent years.
The Chief Medical Officer has again declined to attend the 2011 conference.
As in previous years the conference is held within a short walaking distance from the CMO's office. Once again Invest in ME are disappointed that the CMO could not find a half of one day to attend a major international conference on ME (see google map).
The correspondence is here -

From CMO to Invest in ME
Thank you for inviting Dame Sally Davies to attend your annual conference on ME/CFS to be held on Friday 27 May 2011.
Unfortunately, Dame Sally has a prior commitment on the date given and I'm afraid therefore it is not possible to accept your kind invitation on this occasion. Please accept our apologies for this.
With best wishes.

Thank you for your response.
Please could I ask if Dame Sally would be sending a representative to the conference?
This is the foremost biomedical research conference on ME/CFS in Europe with the world's leading researchers.
With today's implementation of a permanent ban on blood donation by ME/CFS patients in the UK this conference would be an ideal opportunity for the CMO to be acquainted with the latest research on a disease which is possibly infectious,
